Sarah is quiet. She is one of our younger athletes and very unassuming at first glance. You notice her stretching in her fashionable workout gear before class.
But then you notice her again about 20 minutes into the workout when you realize this relatively new CF athlete is pushing non-stop and smoking your ass.
"Fitness and I have always had a love/hate relationship; more so hate than love, actually. One moment I'm into this new workout regiment full force, and the next I'm completely bored of it. I've tried running, going to local gyms, countless home workout videos, and even kickboxing. None of which lasted very long. Whenever I would tell my dad that I was starting a new workout plan, he'd always make a joke and say, "Yeah, I'll give it about 2 weeks." As much as I hated to admit it, he was always right. I couldn't find anything that clicked. That is until I discovered CrossFit.
One Saturday morning in May, I stepped into the CFTH box for the first time and tried out the "Free Trial" class. Needless to say I wanted to die after that workout, but I was hooked. I signed up that same day and the rest was history.
It's been 3 months since I started my first Roots class, and I'm still loving every day of it. For me to stick with something like this for this long says alot to me. The coaches and the people are some of the most encouraging individuals that a person could meet. Everyone pushes you to keep going even when you want to give up. Because of this, I've gotten stronger and more confident in myself. I've learned to make my weakness into my strengths, and as cliché as it sounds, I see that hardwork and dedication really do pay off. Everyday I surprise myself with how much I'm actually capable of doing, and next month I'll be competing in my very first competition (which is something that I never even thought about when I first started).
I've come a long way and I'm excited to continue this journey on becoming the best that I can be, one WOD at a time."
