"CrossFit has changed my life. Since finding it in 2012, I’ve lost 40 pounds and have adopted a new way of life that revolves around healthy habits, fitness, and helping others achieve their goals. Although I had a background in running Cross Country and wrestling in high school, at 25 I found myself overweight and with a shoulder injury. I wasn’t motivated by any exercise or gyms.
I had always heard about CrossFit, but was too intimidated to try it. But I felt more confident with a couple Tough Mudders under my belt and my latest PT test score and I thought I was in pretty good shape - I was wrong. I was absolutely smoked at the end of the short workout that we did. I knew that this was exactly what I needed to get back into the shape I wanted to be in. I was still limited by my injury, but my coaches helped me work through my mobility issues and get some strength back. I was constantly improving and setting PRs. Not only did I see physical changes, but, for the first time in my life, going to the gym was the highlight of my day.
People started asking me about what I was doing for my diet, for recipes and for tips on running (pretty much the only thing I excelled at immediately). Being able to help people got me excited. Seeing people reach their goals or do something for the first time got me more excited than my own accomplishments. This is when I decided that this is something I should be doing on a more “professional” level. I decided to get my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certificate and put my passion and love for CrossFit to work, and I'm glad I did. I'm lucky to be able to pursue my dream and I hope I am able to help others find happiness in themselves, the same way my coaches/mentors/friends did for me."
